"Report in the newspaper, “South Wales Daily News”, dated Monday October 17, 1887.
Kidwelly V. Llanelly Wanderers. - Played at Llanelly, resulting in a win for Llanelly Wanderers by one goal, one try, two minors, to two minors. The first half was but a poor display, scrimmage after scrimmage following without variation. In the second half, the home team were able to utilize their passing power. The tries were got by W. Hopkins and D. Richards.
Sides:-Kidwelly: J Randall, back; D Davies (captain), T J Hughes, T Hughes and W J Dixey, three-quarter backs; T Mansell and J Thomas, half backs; Henry Evans, J Francis, J Horne, D Bowen, J Harries, D Rees, Rees John and H Evans, forwards.
Llanelly Wanderers: J Hopkin, back; Tom Williams, J Phillips, W Hopkins and D Richards, three-quarter backs; W Phillips and J Morris, half backs; W Thomas, Henry Richards, W Thomas, R Williams, T Davies, T Emanuel, J Edwards and D Thomas, forwards.
Umpires: Messrs R A Bish and Henry Isaac. Referee; Mr Fred Thomas."
This is a bit of a mystery: I had no idea that a 'Wanderers' team exixted before 1951!
